With a packed schedule in the gardens of Chiswick House, a book festival full of literary luvvies and plenty of comedy performances at the Headliners Comedy Club, your summer diary will be packed before you know it.
Headliners Comedy Club
Headliners Comedy Club is a Chiswick institution, and what better way to spend a summers evening than enjoying a few rib-achingly funny sets from a selection of London’s best comedians? Located in the George IV pub, comedy sets are performed every Friday and Saturday, although details of the comedians are only released the week before so keep your eyes peeled on the online listings!
Chiswick Book Festival
This distinguished literary festival is back for it’s seventh year, and with previous speakers including Jacqueline Wilson, Michael Palin and Antonia Fraser, it’s a highlight in the calendar for both readers and writers. The 2015 festival will take place on the 10th – 14th September, and authors Max Hastings, AN Wilson and ‘Queen of Shops’ Mary Portas have already confirmed among others, with plenty more to be revealed as the festival inches closer.
Summer Season at Tabard Theatre
The intimate Tabard Theatre is a fantastic performance venue with visitors coming from far and wide to enjoy the talent here, and the summer line-up is as good as ever. With everything from stand-up comedy performances from the likes of Patrick Kielty to a bold, through-provoking drama from Woman’s Voices, the Tabard Theatre will make you laugh, cry and think this summer.
The Luna Cinema at Chiswick House and Gardens – Finished
Summer is the season of the outdoor cinema, but rarely are screens set up in such a stunning location such as Chiswick House Gardens. Grab your tickets now for the Luna Cinema’s screenings of classic films Top Gun and Baz Luhrman’s Romeo + Juliet under the stars on the 12th of 13th of August – we guarantee it will beat at night at the Odeon!
Midsummer Night’s Dream at St Paul’s Church – Finished
The small yet mighty St Michael’s Players from Elmwood Road church are decamping to the beautiful vicarage garden of St Paul’s Church for four nights in July to perform Shakespeare’s infamous comedy of love and confusion, this time set in a heady 1960s universe. In true Woodstock style seating is open-air and on the grass, and a bar and BBQ will be available to keep you fed and watered throughout the performance.
